The journey to the 35th America's Cup
The America’s Cup is the competition for the oldest trophy in international sport and dates back to 1851. Over that time, teams representing just four nations (the United States of America, Australia, New Zealand and Switzerland) have won the trophy in over 160-years of competition.
It is one of the greatest challenges in all of sport.
The defending champion is ORACLE TEAM USA, who first won the America’s Cup in 2010, and successfully defended the title in 2013. Now five challenging teams, including Land Rover BAR, have signed up to take on the challenge.

The journey to the 35th America's Cup started in 2015 with the first Louis Vuitton America's Cup World Series events, followed by a second series in 2016.
As the overall winner of the series Land Rover BAR take two points into the next stage, the America's Cup Qualifiers in Bermuda. ORACLE TEAM USA finished second in the World Series and take 1 point into the qualifiers.
The Challenger program begins with the America’s Cup Qualifiers in Bermuda, a double round-robin series from 26 May to 5 June that the Defender participates in. Land Rover BAR’s opening race of the 35th America’s Cup campaign will be against fellow challenger Artemis Racing from Sweden on Friday 26th May 2017.
The top four challengers from the Louis Vuitton America’s Cup Qualifiers will split into two semi-finals and this second stage of the 2017 competition will run from Sunday 4th June until Monday 12th June, with the winners taking part in a finals competition to determine which team will take on the Defender in the 35th America’s Cup Match, presented by Louis Vuitton, a best-of-13 series scheduled for 17-27 June, also in Bermuda.
