Jo is the Head of Commercial, Marketing, Communications and Events for BAR. Jo has worked alongside Sir Ben
Ainslie for 13 years securing all his commercial funding through three Olympic campaigns. In 2011 the pair set the
strategy of setting up a British America’s Cup team, to challenge for and win the trophy for Britain.
Jo attended University in New Haven, Connecticut, USA, and on her return to the UK worked for Lloyds Bank in International Marketing. Her love of sailing eventually pulled her from the City to the South Coast of England where she competed on the International Match Racing Circuit for 4 years with double Olympic gold medallist, Shirley Robertson.
The team were ranked number one in the world for over 12 months. With a need to supplement the Sports Funding, Jo used her marketing background to freelance as a sailing writer and TV news producer. These tools along with her marketing background proved invaluable when Jo started the agency Into the blue.

Sarah Alexander manages the press and PR for the Land Rover BAR team. She began her career in public relations in the fast-paced London fashion industry, working with a number of luxury and independent brands assisting with brand direction, marketing and promotional campaigns. She moved back to the south coast in 2010 joining Sailing Marketing, PR and Event agency, Into the blue working with agency client, Volvo Car UK, across a sponsorship portfolio that profiled a ‘grassroots to glory’ philosophy, ranging from youth development to Britain’s top sailors at the pinnacle of the sport.
Holly was born and grew up in Portsmouth. She joins the team as front of house receptionist, meeting and greeting visitors with a friendly smile and assisting with general equiries from the team and members of the public. Before joining Land Rover BAR, Holly spent two years in recruitment, specialising in the commercial and legal sector. In her spare time, Holly enjoys attending music festivals around the UK with her friends and family.

Tim Carter is originally from Ipswich, Suffolk, but he studied at the University of Portsmouth, graduating in 2014 with a degree in Business. Tim’s knowledge of Portsmouth got him started at Land Rover BAR as an intern, but soon after arrival he was offered a permanent position working with the Communications and Commercial departments. This is his first graduate job, and his first America’s Cup. He has a sailing background representing Great Britain in Cadet, 420, 470 and Nacra 17 achieving many top 10 results at international events with the British Sailing Team. In his spare time Tim still sails a lot and participates in every sport he can try his hand at.
Mark began sailing in a Mirror dinghy, then progressed into the 420 and 470. He did lots of team racing at University, instead of studying physics and philosophy. While on a gap year, he joined the British team at the 1987 America’s Cup to paint signs and clean, and was then promoted to testing navigator. He subsequently sailed with four more America’s Cup teams, and won 3 offshore world championships before switching full-time to writing. He has written four novels and many other books and articles on sailing.

Her early career was spent in London working within the investment banking arena before moving into public sector recruitment. For the last 10 years she has worked within the marine industry for a number of different companies setting up their HR functions.

From the Isle of Wight, Sophie will work for Land Rover BAR at the same time as completing a two-year Level 3 Apprenticeship in Events and Marketing Management. Whilst at school, Sophie achieved high grades and became Deputy Head Girl. She was a member at Gurnard Sailing Club from a young age, and is very musical and plays the clarinet, saxophone and flute, achieving grade 8 in the latter two instruments.

Bertie, orginally from Bermuda, has recently graduated from Southampton Solent University with a degree in Construction Management. He joins as Project Manager Intern to assist the team's Bermuda base build. Bertie grew up sailing in Bermuda from a young age and has competed in many international dinghy regattas. In his spare time, he enjoys playing rugby.

Peter began sailing in Hong Kong during the 70’s before returning to University in the UK. A career in the marine trade in parallel to Admirals Cup, One Ton and Farr 40 successes eventually led to a sabbatical with Stewart Grand Prix before returning to the South Coast in the 90’s to establish an IT company specialising in the support of marine trade companies and sailing projects from Olympic to Volvo and the America’s Cup.

Harry's passion for media started young while at Millfield school, but developed fully during his time at Falmouth University where he studied Photojournalism. He is an avid sportsman, competing at various levels in Modern Pentathlon, Skiing and Sailing is currently a member of the Royal Burnham Yacht Club. In his spare time he likes to remind his three brothers of his dominance in the sport of Croquet.

Currently living on the Isle of Wight, Liam joins the team as IT support. Liam previously worked for OC Sport, supporting users and working on the network and server infrastructure as well as travelling on the Extreme Sailing Series circuit assiting with live streaming of the racing at events. In addition to that, Liam has worked for the DongFeng Volvo Ocean Race team, where he was responsible for designing and purchasing a network for the hospitality and container areas.
In his spare time, Liam enjoys cycling.

Sophie helps the team to secure private investment. She was previously the Commercial Director for Team GB, and prior to that was Fundraising Director after London won the Olympic host bid. Sophie saw through four Olympic Games before setting up her own agency, Strix Ltd, in 2014, which focuses on finding new revenue streams for companies, mostly in the sporting arena. Sophie was the Head of Fundraising for the Outward Bound Trust prior to her foray into the Olympic world and has a wealth of fundraising experience.

Amy Munro is an Oceanography graduate from the University of Southampton and grew up in a sailing family, racing on the Solent and the East coast of England. She has experience from a range of campaigns that include running a World Record-Breaking Transatlantic Solo Row through to Offshore Research Assisitant for EcoOcean and Environmental Ocean Team. She has also been involved in workshops to promote public awareness of environmental issues and ocean conservation and been lucky enough to be part of dive teams researching health of coral reefs in Fiji. This is Amy’s first America’s Cup campaign and she is the Sustainability Officer for Land Rover BAR; this role involves working with the team to embed sustainability through three target areas: Driving Innovation, Inspiring Excellence and Smarter Futures.

From Leigh-on-Sea, Essex, Sacha has been involved in sports marketing and communication since graduating from the University of Southampton with a degree in Psychology. Sacha began her career with the RYA as Communications Officer during the 2004 Olympics. During 2005/6 she worked as the Travelling Press Officer for the Volvo Ocean Race and has since worked on campaigns for Vodafone and the England Cricket Team, McLaren Mercedes, UEFA Champions League and Adidas’ ‘Take the Stage’ London 2012 campaign. Most recently, Sacha helped launch BT Sport from a PR and Communications capacity.
In her spare time, Sacha now sails on her doorstep in the River Hamble in the Foxer class and enjoys cruising the Solent on a Sadler 32.

Alex is originally from Cheltenham, UK and studied Sound Technology & Digital Music IET at Oxford Brookes University. Alex worked for four years at the renowned sports production company Sunset+Vine|APP. In this time he worked closely with ISAF, the British Sailing Team and Sir Ben Ainslie’s campaign in the build up to, and during the London 2012 Olympics. Highlights include working on the BBC’s production of the sailing events during the London 2012 Olympics, producing 46 episodes of Sea Master Sailing and 11 episodes of America’s Cup Discovered. Alex has worked in a variety of roles across the Extreme Sailing Series, RC44 Championship Tour, Audi MedCup, ISAF World Sailor of the Year Awards, and the Perth 2011 and Santander 2015 ISAF World Championships.

Born in Portsmouth, Mark previously worked in the construction industry for six years sandwiched between a year working in Spain. Mark was part of the construction team which built the home of Land Rover BAR and was taken onto the team after the completion of the building works.

Matt joins the team as Head of Finance. He comes from a background of Engineering & Construction and Project Finance, helping Finance teams to understand and interact with everyone in the organisation to provide a first-class finance service. He has graduated from Manchester University with a degree in International Management with French. In his spare time, Matt enjoys training for triathlons and doing charity work.

Jessica grew up sailing dinghies in the strong Fremantle ‘Doctor’ sea breezes in Western Australia. She progressed into offshore yacht racing and through this passion Jess realised the importance of the weather. She studied mathematics and physics at undergraduate level, following this with a Masters in Meteorology at the University of Reading (UK). Jess has joined BAR as meteorologist having worked as the onshore navigation support with CAMPER Emirates Team New Zealand in the 2011-2012 Volvo Ocean Race, and Emirates Team New Zealand in the 34th America’s Cup. Since that 34th Cup, Jess has been modelling tropical cyclones in Australia. In her own racing career as a navigator, Jess has completed 5 Sydney-Hobarts, 3 Newport-Bermudas, achieved a world record for the Round Britain and Ireland Race and won the Pacific Cup.

AAT qualified, Mel joins the Accounts team having previously worked for IBM for 13 years doing internal audits, immigration compliance and accounts. Mel is currently studying for a Bcs Honors in Criminology and Psychological Studies with the Open University - she has so far completed two out of six years. In her spare time, Mell enjoys playing fottball, baking and taking lesuirely country walks with her puppy.

Born in Reading, Kate now resides in Southampton. Kate studied at the University of Portsmouth in Physical Geography, graduating in 2013. After graduating university Kate worked in Sales before joining Land Rover BAR as Office Manager. This role involves the day to day running of the office and assisting the Events Manager with all events in our Flight Deck facility. Kate learnt to sail in Picos and Lasers during school holidays and in her spare time Kate enjoys playing netball.

From Chertsey, UK, Rob was a keen sailor from a young age. He studied chemistry at undergraduate level at the University of Bristol, before achieving an MBa from the University of Southampton. During this time, Rob sailed in the British Sailing Team in the Tornado. He then became a coach and has since been acknowledged in the UK Sport ‘Coaches Hall of Fame’ by HRH Princess Royal. His coaching resume includes helping Helena Lucas to Paralympic 2012 Gold, The Wave Muscat to Extreme Sailing Series wins in 2012 and 2013, and Alegre to a Mini Maxi World Championship.

Specialising in the sport of sailing, Dan has been involved in sports marketing and communications for over ten years. For the past two years he headed up the communications strategy for the Louis Vuitton America’s Cup World Series event Portsmouth. In his spare time, Dan is a keen boxer, boxer and long suffering supporter of Arsenal FC.
